在好处中要取大的，在害处中要取小的。在生活中会遇到好处，也会遇到坏处。对待好处，无疑应择其大者而取之，以获取最佳利益；对坏处，能避免则避免，不能避免则择其小者而取之，以最大限度地减少损失。

孔子说：“有益的爱好有三种，有害的爱好有三种。爱好礼乐、爱好称赞别人的优点，爱好广结善友，有益处；爱好放荡、爱好闲逛、爱好大吃大喝，有害处。”
