出自汉·桓宽《盐铁论·疾贪》。欲，想。表，仪表，这句话指身体。下，指下属。先之身，先要求自己。要想影子正，就要先把自己的身子站直；要想下属清廉，自己要先做出表率。这句话以正影先正身为喻，说明正人先正己的道理。
