老聃曰：女慎无撄人心。人心排下而进上，上下囚杀，淖约柔乎刚强。廉刿雕琢，其热焦火，其寒凝冰。其疾俛仰之间而再抚四海之外，其居也渊而静，其动也县而天，偾骄而不可系者，其唯人心乎！
老子说：“你要谨慎，别去扰乱人心。人心受压抑就会颓丧，受推崇就会振奋，但无论颓丧还是振奋，都像是被囚禁和伤害一样，轻轻抚慰才能软化刚强。受到伤害时就像被切割雕刻，情绪激烈时热得像烈土，情绪低落时寒得像凝冰。它变化迅疾，俯仰之间就可再次遨游四海之外；它静处时像深渊一般宁静，活动时高悬于天一般腾跃；奋发矜骄，不可束缚，这恐怕只有人心吧！
